The Samsung ML-5512ND is a high-performance printer for businesses that require high-volume printing options. It is a black and white printer and is priced at $1,200 at the time of review. The printer is heavy and companies need to find a strong surface to place it on. It has dimensions of 18 x 17 x 21 inches.

The printer comes with two or four additional cassettes and a 2,000-sheet high-capacity feeder-caster base, so the device’s maximum paper capacity is 3,000. Users can also opt for a model with a stapler or a four-slot mailbox. The printer features a 1,000-sheet output tray at the top of the device and a control panel at the top that features a four-line LCD, a four-directional navigation wheel, an alphanumeric keypad and five shortcut keys.

The Samsung ML-5512nd uses a two-piece consumables set with a toner cartridge and an imaging unit. Users can purchase standard, high, or extra high yield toners. The front of the printer gives you access to a 100-sheet multi-purpose tray and a 520-sheet paper cassette. There is also a USB port on the front. The printer runs on a 700MHz dual-core processor and has 256MB of internal memory.

In terms of print speed, the PC noted an average speed of 55 prints per minute (ppm) in normal mode, with the first page printed within eight seconds from ready or light sleep mode. When the printer was in deep sleep mode, it took 30 seconds to print the first page. Users can enable toner save mode for draft prints.

In this mode there are minimal differences in quality and no differences in speed. The PC did not detect any paper jams during testing. However, PC noted that the ML-5512nd is an “energy hog,” topping out at 1300W. When warmed up, the device reached a peak power of over 1000W. Samsung offers its customers several eco-friendly options.
