Samsung Xpress SL-M2836 Printer Driver and Software

The Samsung Xpress SL-M2836 allows you to connect via USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Direct. When you connect to a network, you can print to an access point via the cloud and from Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Thanks to Wi-Fi Direct, you can print directly from your mobile device even when you connect it to a PC via a USB cable to use it as a personal printer.

Additionally, you get NFC support. So if you have a compatible mobile device, you can simply connect by touching that phone or tablet in a clearly marked location on the printer and then print using the Samsung app. During testing, I initially had a small problem with the NFC connection with a Samsung Galaxy S III, but after turning everything off and on again, the connection worked as promised.

Paper Handling and Setup

At just 8 x 14.5 x 13.2 inches (HWD) and 16.4 pounds, the Samsung Xpress SL-M2836 is small enough to comfortably share a desk with others and light enough for one person to move around easily , making it a good choice for a single printer. Still, it offers comprehensive paper handling for a shared printer, with a 250-sheet input tray, a duplexer (for two-sided printing), and a single-sheet manual feeder. This should be more than sufficient for most personal or micro-office applications.

Speed ​​And Output Quality

The motor performance for the Samsung Xpress SL-M2836 is 29 pages per minute (ppm), the same as the Samsung Xpress SL-M2836. Unsurprisingly, the two printers clocked in at essentially the same speed in our testing. I set the time for our Business Applications Suite at 9.7 ppm, compared to 9.9 ppm for the Samsung Xpress SL-M2836.

The output quality of the Samsung Xpress SL-M2836 is typical of a monochrome laser across the board. The text rating in my testing fell in the middle of a fairly narrow range that encompasses the vast majority of monochrome laser printers. The output is suitable for virtually any business use, but falls short for serious desktop publishing applications.

Graphics are also lightweight enough for internal business needs. Most people would also consider them good enough for PowerPoint handouts or something similar. The photo quality is roughly equivalent to that of a newspaper.
