Samsung ML-1660 Printer Driver and Software

Samsung ML-1660 is a tiny A4 monochrome laser printer that is perfect for home users and small businesses that only want to print black and white documents. It’s inexpensive, doesn’t take up a lot of space on a desk, and even has a nifty feature called One Touch that lets you print a screenshot of anything displayed on your monitor by simply pressing a button on the printer.

The Samsung ML-1660’s footprint is just 43 x 35 cm when you take into account the extended paper tray at the front and the power plug at the back. It is a very easy printer to set up. The toner cartridge is already installed in the printer. So all you have to do is peel off the plastic from the control panels, connect the power and USB cables, install the software, extend the paper trays and add some A4 paper. You can be up and running in five minutes.

The paper is fed through the front of the printer and rolled through its path so that the output exits face down at the top of the device. The front paper input tray holds 150 sheets and output lasts up to 100 sheets before overflowing.

It is not a printer that can be used for large volumes of printing (its duty cycle is 5000 pages per month). Therefore, the paper handling capacity should be sufficient if you just want to print college assignments at home (as long as you don’t need ink, of course) or invoices for your clients at your office. It’s not an ideal printer for a law firm or publishing house, for example.

The printing resolution is 1200 x 600 dots per inch, so it doesn’t work well for printing images and shading, but is suitable for text. The output is quite acceptable to print reports with black text on a white background.

Black text on shaded backgrounds looks a little too jagged, especially when it’s small text but still readable. However, reversed white text on black looks crisp even when the size is 6pt.

Graphics with a lot of text and shading can be difficult to read when printed on the ML-1660, and curved or diagonal lines look too feathery. However, saying this means the output is fine if, for example, you want to review a presentation on the way to work. However, you don’t want to use it for professional presentations.
