Samsung Xpress SL-C1810W Color Laser Printer Driver and Software

The Samsung Xpress SL-C1810W is a color laser printer for moderate use in small offices or workgroups. It can print up to 18 black or color pages per minute (ppm) and supports wired and wireless networks. The only significant omission is automatic two-sided printing, but we wouldn’t necessarily expect it at this price.

Aside from a decent control panel with a two-line monochrome LCD display, there’s not much to this printer’s appearance, but its 250-sheet cassette is topped by a flat deck that serves as a cut-sheet bypass. You have to pull the assembly out almost all the way before you can flip up the bypass tray and put the cartridge back in, while the bypass itself isn’t as convenient as a simple slot in the front cover.

The Samsung Xpress SL-C1810W supports Google Cloud Print and mobile printing via AirPrint or via Samsung’s MobilePrint app. Here, the printer’s NFC support serves as an easy way to pair it with a device that is not yet on the office network. Like HP, Samsung now has a print service plug-in for Android that allows printing directly to apps that support it, rather than just using MobilePrint.

The startup of this printer is not too fast. The first page of a mono print job takes 16 seconds to print from standby mode and 25 seconds to print from sleep mode. From that point on, however, it’s faster, printing at 15.5 pages per minute in our 25-page letter test. Unusually in this price range, the Samsung Xpress SL-C1810W is not much slower in color and achieves a good 13.6 ppm compared to our complex graphical test. This printer produced cracked black text with razor-sharp edges and exceptionally good color graphics with a nice, even shine. The only stain was a blue bias in photographs.
