Samsung CLX-6200 Color Laser Multifunction Printer Driver and Software

The CLX-6200 features a duplex automatic document feeder that enables automatic printing and scanning of double-sided documents. This saves money by cutting paper usage in half and eliminating the time of manually reloading each page. To meet the diverse needs of business users, the Samsung CLX-6200 offers a wide range of printing solutions, including Samsung SmarThru (document management), SyncThru (network device management) and security management solutions.

The CLX-6200 is compatible with Windows and OS X. You can also download drivers for Linux and UNIX. Support software includes Samsung’s oddly named SmarThru scanning utility, as well as emulated drivers for PCL and PostScript.

The four drum and toner cartridges are stacked vertically and are easily accessible once you pull down the front cover. The transfer belt is attached to the same front cover and can be easily replaced, although you only need to do this every 50,000 pages.

Samsung claims this device can print 20 pages per minute in both black and color, but our 5-page black text print took 31 seconds, which is 9.7 pages per minute, and even the 20-page document increased the speed only at 15.0 pages per minute. The five-page color test returned 9.4 pages per minute.

Although duplex printing is a rarity in color and laser multifunctions, it is very slow here, with our 20-page / 10-page text printing taking 2:47, a speed of 7.2 pages per minute. Copy speeds are more reasonable: a single color page takes 29 seconds and a five-page black text copy takes 34 seconds. A 20-page duplex copy took 2:56.

The CLX-6200 offers a number of different duplex copy modes, including doubling from single-sided to double-sided documents and true duplex copy, which takes a two-sided original and creates a two-sided copy. The scanner is full duplex and returns the two-sided original to scan the second side.
