Samsung CLX-6240 Color Laser Multifunction Printer Driver and Software

The Samsung CLX-6240 color laser multifunction printer from Samsung is surprisingly large and offers numerous functions. With automatic duplexing, an internal hard drive and enough memory, this multifunction printer is suitable for small offices. It can print quickly and offers good black and white print quality, although color graphics leave something to be desired.

The Samsung CLX-6240 color laser multifunctional device is an impressive beast. Thanks to vertically aligned toners, it is 651 mm high. That’s even bigger than its cheaper sibling, the CLX-6240. Unfortunately, Samsung didn’t take advantage of the extra height and set the multifunction device’s maximum input capacity at 350 A4 pages. If this is not enough, a second 250-sheet cassette.

A standard array of ports—USB, Ethernet, and RJ-11 fax ports—is lightly recessed into the side of the Samsung CLX-6240. Connected cables protrude slightly. A second USB port on the front lets you print directly from or scan to flash drives.

Of the printer’s various design flaws, the most concerning is the control panel. The Samsung CLX-6240 offers a wide range of buttons, including fax keyboard and speed dial options, copy settings, and even a dedicated button for automatic duplex options. The control panel is often confusing – especially for first-time users – and could have been simplified by moving many of these options to the MFP’s on-screen menu.

Monochrome documents are readable and have accurate characters even when printing 7-point characters. When using the default settings, documents may appear a little gray, but the CLX-6240FX Color Laser All-In-One’s Print All Text to Darken feature darkens text without bolding words or sentences inconsistently.

Color printing isn’t quite as good. Although colors are largely consistent, they tend to be oversaturated, and we noticed some alignment issues between text and colored background. The fine grain printing option fixed the same problem on the CLX-6240, but this feature is missing from this multifunction device. You can adjust color registration manually. However, this can be difficult without a reference sheet.
