Samsung ML-2250 Laser Printer Drivers and Software

The Samsung ML-2250 has a striking, glossy white surface. From the front, the design appears extremely compact, but the paper compartment bulges out at the back, so the space requirement is not quite as small as it looks at first glance.

We were impressed with Samsung’s crisp text on our print samples. Even the smallest characters were well defined. The line art also looked sharp, although we saw some streaking in areas with tight parallel lines. Our photo print sample was damaged due to excessive horizontal banding.

Print speeds for text and graphics were slightly above average. The main paper tray of the Samsung ML-2250 holds up to 250 sheets. You can purchase a second 250-sheet drawer for $150. You can fold down the manual feed tray from the front of the printer to deliver an additional 50 sheets or a small stack of envelopes.

The rear output tray folds down to provide a straight path through the printer for thicker media such as card stock, labels and envelopes. Up to 150 sheets of normal paper arrive hidden at the top of the output tray.

The device has parallel and USB 2.0 ports. You can add network cards for Ethernet and Wi-Fi later.

Unlike most small office laser printers, which have separately replaceable toner cartridges and drum assemblies (where the drum outlives the toner several times), the ML-2250 has a combined cartridge.

This reduces the number of consumables you have to deal with and should, in theory, help maintain print quality as you replace the drum more frequently. You can expect this to make the printer more expensive, but a 5000-page capacity cartridge costs a reasonable $99.
