Samsung CLP-325 Color Laser Printer Driver and Software

Following on from the previous models CLP300, CLP-310 and CLP-315, the new Samsung CLP-325 tries to impress with a stylish, modern look and small footprint.

The Samsung CLP-325 has a 130-page paper tray and an 80-page output tray. The small device delivers color printing at up to 2,400 x 600 dpi. The print quality is not comparable to a good inkjet printer for photos, but the results for business publications are satisfactory.

Print speeds can be slow, making this device a poor choice for demanding offices. The first print after warm-up takes approximately 26 seconds, followed by 4ppm for a color A4 and 16ppm for monochrome A4.

The added benefit of a one-touch WiFi setup! Unfortunately, there are owners who complain about problems setting up the wireless connection with certain routers and Mac operating systems. Unfortunately, there’s no USB or Ethernet cable included, which would be useful as a backup plan in such circumstances.

Amazing to think you can pick up this color laser printer for under £100? How do manufacturers make such a machine and still make a profit? By selling the dummy consumables! The toner cartridges cost almost, if not more, than the original purchase price of the hardware.

As with many color laser beam devices, you are buying into a “pay as you go” culture. Even if you use the 30% eco toner saver mode, you’ll need a new set of toner approximately every thousand pages (this printer comes with lower capacity starter cartridges), making the CLP-325 an expensive printer.

The Samsung CLP-325 does not have a scanner or fax function and is designed as a dedicated color printer for home and small office use. There are many inkjet printers on the market today that offer more features, better performance, and cheaper operation. Therefore, it is difficult to recommend this printer over these other devices.
