Samsung CLX-3305FN Color Laser Multifunction Printer Driver and Software

The Samsung CLX-3305FN offers a letter-size flatbed complemented by an automatic document feeder (ADF). However, the CLX-3305FN’s ADF offers a higher capacity of 40 pages. More importantly, both printers offer the same meager paper handling for printing, with a 150-sheet input tray and no duplexer (for two-sided printing), limiting both to light use.

The Samsung CLX-3305FN ‘s output quality is about the same as its speed: not impressive, but not a serious weakness. Given its par-quality graphics and slightly subpar text and photos, it’s a little subpar overall for a color laser MFP, but more than acceptable for any business use.

Text is a little short for what I would insist on for serious desktop publishing, but more than good enough for all other business needs. Graphics output is easily sufficient for all internal business needs, including PowerPoint handouts. If you’re not too much of a perfectionist, you can also use text, graphics, and photos for basic marketing materials like tri-fold brochures.

Another issue I encountered only occurred after I completed all of my official testing and turned the printer back on for a quick ad hoc test. The printer popped up with an error message on the front LCD asking me to change the waste toner tank and refusing to print.

What makes this potentially significant is that a similar error message appeared on a recently tested Samsung printer using the same printer engine. However, this appears to be more of a shipping issue with these two printers than a serious design or manufacturing issue.

Both test units had been previously used and came without the plastic foam piece that was supposed to hold the toner cartridges and waste tank in place. According to Samsung, without this packaging material, the cartridges and tank may shift during shipping and damage the waste tank sensor. Samsung also says it has not seen this issue in shipping units.
