Samsung ML-3312ND Laser Printer Drivers and Software
The Samsung ML-3312ND is the junior cousin of the Samsung ML-3712ND, but you wouldn’t know it, at least based on its test results. Despite a slightly lower rated speed, slower processor, smaller memory, and lower price, it effectively matched the ML-3712ND’s speed and demonstrated comparable output quality. Other differences between the two devices balance the image depending on printing needs. However, the ML-3312ND is a very solid and capable choice as a small office workhorse mono laser printer.
The ML-3312ND is physically identical to the Samsung ML-3712. Cream and brown, measures 14.5 x 14.4 x 10 inches (HWD) and weighs 21 pounds, making it easy to fit on most desks. The control panel has a minimum of controls, a 4-way controller with a center button, several function buttons (power, start and eco mode) and a 2-line monochrome display. It comes standard with a 250-sheet main paper tray and a 50-sheet multi-purpose tray and has an automatic duplexer. The printer can accommodate an additional optional 520-sheet tray for a maximum total capacity of 820 sheets.
The ML-3312ND offers USB and Ethernet connectivity. We tested it over an Ethernet connection with a network PC running Windows Vista. One difference between the ML-3312ND and the ML-3712ND is that only the latter computer supports Gigabit Ethernet.
Another difference is the maximum monthly duty cycle. The ML-3312ND is 50,000 pages per month, while the ML-3712ND is more robust at 80,000 pages. Additionally, the ML-3712ND adds a PostScript driver to the mix (although it doesn’t install by default and users must opt for a custom installation to access it).

Although the Samsung ML-3312ND is faster than the ML-3712ND relative to its rated speed, both are ashamed of the HP P1606dn and the Canon imageClass LBP6300dn. The HP lacks paper handling options, so you’re limited to 250 sheets, and photo and graphics quality can’t match that of the ML-3312ND. The Editors’ Choice Samsung ML-2851ND is a bit faster than the other two Samsungs, although they are all statistically the same as their speed is within the margin of error. It is also slightly more compact than the ML-3312ND.
