Samsung CLP-365 Color Laser Printer Driver and Software

The Samsung CLP-365 can serve as a shared printer in a micro office or as a personal printer in an office of any size. While it can do the job it’s intended for, it doesn’t have any notable strengths that could make it a compelling choice.

In addition to a price that’s reasonably low for a personal printer, the Samsung CLP-365 offers a size small enough to easily share a desk with others. At just 8.3 x 15.0 x 12.2 inches (HWD). However, if the Dell printer only offers a USB connection, the CLP-365W adds both Ethernet and Wi-Fi so you can easily share it over a network. It also supports Wi-Fi Direct for easy connection to a smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Unfortunately, the Samsung CLP-365 doesn’t offer better paper handling than the Dell printer. This limits the potential for sharing. While the 150-sheet capacity without an automatic duplexer (for two-sided printing) is sufficient for any micro office, it is only suitable for light use.

Speed ​​And Output Quality

The Samsung CLP-365’s print speed is rather slow for a laser, at 19 pages per minute (ppm) for black and white and 4 pages per minute for color. In our Business Applications Suite, I set the timing (using QualityLogic hardware and software for timing) to an effective 3.2 ppm. This makes the printer significantly slower than the Dell 1250c at 4.6 ppm and far slower than the slightly more expensive Brother HL-3045CN or the Samsung CLP-415NW, both of which were delivered at 6.0 ppm. It’s not even hard to find higher speed inkjet printers.

The printer’s output quality falls into much the same category as speed: usable, but not impressive. Text is just a touch below average for a color laser. This means it’s more than good enough for any business use, including one-page mailers and other basic marketing materials, but a little short for what you want for serious desktop publishing.

Graphics output is a given, making it easily suitable for everything from business needs to PowerPoint handouts. Depending on how critical your eye is, you may find it acceptable for printing your own marketing materials. Photos are a touch below average. Again, you may or may not consider them appropriate for marketing materials or similar.
